New South Wales Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant says “at this level of cases” NSW is “going to continue to see further deaths” as the state records 239 new local cases.
She says there have been two COVID-related deaths on Wednesday which include a woman in her 90’s who died Wednesday morning at Liverpool Hospital, and a man in his 80’s who died on Wednesday afternoon at Royal North Shore Hospital.
She said neither were vaccinated, and they were both household contacts of confirmed cases.
“I think these deaths do highlight a key issue, at this level of cases we are going to continue to see further deaths,” Dr Chant said.
“And sadly too many elderly people in our community are not protected.”
