State, territory leaders keen to start AstraZeneca rollout
In case you missed it, 300,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Sydney yesterday, and state premiers are keen to ramp up their vaccination programs with the new drug. It's been one week since the rollout of the Pfizer vaccine, with 80,000 doses issued to the states and territories.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is expected to outline her state's vaccination numbers today and said she was keen to get vaccine supply information from the Federal government as soon as possible.
"We're really keen to get on with the job and I want to assure the community that NSW has all its processes in place and we're confident that we'll reach our target of the vaccine rollout, and I'm sure the Federal Government will reach their target as well."
The ACT's Health Minister too said the majority of her state would receive the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Rachel Stephen-Smith said she would be working closely with the Commonwealth over the next week to ramp up the ACT's vaccination capacity.
