US authorises third COVID-19 vaccine
Meanwhile, over in the US, the FDA - the Food and Drug Administration - has issued an emergency use authorisation for a third vaccine - the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine.
Unlike Pfizer and AstraZeneca, this vaccine only requires one dose, and the FDA has authorised it for people 18 years old and over.
“The authorisation of this vaccine expands the availability of vaccines, the best medical prevention method for COVID-19, to help us in the fight against this pandemic, which has claimed over half a million lives in the United States,” said Acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock, M.D.
