Western Sydney doctors battling COVID vaccine fear and misinformation

Western Sydney doctors are fielding hundreds of phone calls from "scared" patients in the lead up to the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, set to begin on Monday.

"When I'm talking to the patients, they seem to be reluctant about the COVID vaccination," Dr Sunjay Lambert from Liverpool's Castlereagh St Medical Clinic says.

"I haven't come across one who is willingly coming in the door, wanting the injection."

 Eastbrooke Blacktown GP Super Clinic chief operating officer Katie Viviers says reception at her clinic had also been fielding an increasing amount of calls from the community about the vaccine's availability and timing of its release.

"We don't know how to answer that just yet," Ms Viviers says.

"People are interested… and ideally, we would like a few weeks to prepare logistically, but our doctors and nurses have been prepped and are ready when it is available."
