NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian 'feeling positive' after no new cases of community transmission reported overnight - 9News

New South Wales has recorded no new local COVID-19 cases, two days after a hotel quarantine worker tested positive to the virus.

The state's official daily COVID-19 figures will be released at 11am, but the premier said there are no new infections up until 7am.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she was "feeling very positive" about the state's ability to manage its single positive case reported on Sunday, urging people to "not get too upset" by "one or two cases here or there".

The case is a 47-year-old security guard who likely became infected while working with overseas travellers at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, however authorities are still uncertain as to exactly how the infection occurred.

"We have to accept that we may never find the link," Ms Berejiklian said.

The premier once again urged states to keep interstate borders open, saying there was "absolutely no logical reason for borders to close".

"In fact, this is a good opportunity for our nation to have a reset and for our nations' leaders to come forward as say let's keep borders open in the interests of our citizens," she said.
