QLD Health website hints at Brisbane lockdown extension until Tuesday - 7NEWS.com.au

A seemingly innocuous change to the Queensland Health website late on Wednesday night hints that lockdown could be extended into next week.

Social media users noticed a subtle change in the information around testing and respiratory clinics on the site.

It previously stated clinics wouldn’t require a referral “for the duration of the greater Brisbane lockdown - 5pm AEST Monday 29 March to 5pm AEST Thursday 1 April”.

But on Wednesday night, the dates changed to span 5pm Thursday to 11.59pm Tuesday 6 April.

That would align with the end of the Easter long weekend, a similar approach New South Wales is taking with restrictions on Byron Bay.

“This is on the QLD Health website right now. Have I missed the announcement that lockdown has been extended?” one person wrote.

“So we’re in lockdown until 6th April?” another asked. “That’s what the website says?”

After social media users were alerted to the alteration, it was changed again to remove the reference to a greater Brisbane lockdown.

It now reads: “Testing and respiratory clinics will not require a GP referral from 5pm AEST Monday 29 March to 11:59pm AEST Tuesday 6 April.”

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk refused to indicate whether lockdown would be lifted on time when asked on Wednesday.

Instead, she said that she would wait for a full day’s worth of test results and morning briefings on Thursday.

She is expected to address the media at 9am AEST.

Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said another day of strong testing numbers that indicate no mystery cases of community transmission would be the deciding factor in the decision.
