Supermarkets, university cafe added as health alert list grows to 77 sites - Brisbane Times

Coles and IGA supermarkets in Forest Lake were included, along with Fig Tree Bakehouse in Forest Lake as well as Rock and Roll Butcher in Greenslopes and The Chop Shop Butcher in Forest Lake.

The list comes as Queensland Health also made the compulsory PPE announcement on Monday night for Greater Brisbane hospitals.

These included hospitals within the West Moreton Hospital and Health Services region, Metro North HHS, Metro South HHS and Queensland Children's Hospital.

Health officials have also recommended a similar approach for other healthcare providers in the Greater Brisbane area.

Deputy Premier and Health Minister Steven Miles said the policy change was made possible by the state's stockpile of PPE, which included a massive warehouse at Inala.

"Protecting our community is important, and now we have a stockpile of PPE including masks and gowns that our health heroes on the front line can utilise every single day," Mr Miles said.

"It is important that we continue to protect the vulnerable in our community, including those who require hospital care, and the health staff who are an integral part of our COVID-19 response."

The plan means hospital staff must wear masks at all times while treating patients and where social distancing cannot be maintained, all patients must wear a mask at all times (except when in their bed) and any visitors given an exemption to attend hospitals must wear a mask during their visit.

Katter's Australian Party Member for Hinchinbrook Nick Dametto has reiterated his call for a border between the state's south-east and north Queensland, to protect against cluster spread.

"Earlier this month, the KAP called on Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to put a regional contingency plan in place to protect north Queensland from future outbreaks of COVID-19 in the south-east.

We’re calling on the Premier once more to do so as a matter of urgency," he said in a statement.

"Our region has done exceptionally well to keep the number of active COVID cases to a minimum.

"We cannot have a scenario where blanket restrictions come back in again that punish regional
residents and businesses due to what’s happening in south-east Queensland.

"A north Queensland border would help prevent transmissions from the south-east corner."

Queensland recorded one new case of COVID-19 on Monday, taking the number linked to a cluster emerging from the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre last week to 10.
