COVID live updates: Scott Morrison summons a meeting of a key national security committee as Australia fights a battle against COVID outbreaks on multiple fronts - ABC News

Changes to hotel quarantine on National Cabinet agenda

State and territory leaders are set to hold an emergency National Cabinet meeting today in response to the COVID developments over the weekend. We're still not sure when exactly that meeting will be though.

On the agenda are a few things including a briefing from the Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly and the man heading up the vaccine rollout Lieutenant General John Frewen.

The group will also discuss changes to hotel quarantine including not having low risk domestic travellers quarantined next door, or on the same level, as high risk international ones.

They'll also talk about introducing post-quarantining testing on day 16 and testing and vaccinating people in quarantine.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has also flagged she wants to look at temporarily lowering the international passenger caps again.

On vaccines, there'll also be an update of how many aged care workers are vaccinated, and how to speed that up.

According to the latest figures around 33.6 of aged care workers have reported to the government that they've received a vaccine.
