Thirteen coronavirus cases in NSW with 10 linked to Thai Rock cluster - ABC News

Thirteen new coronavirus cases have been diagnosed in NSW overnight — including 10 cases associated with a cluster from the Thai Rock restaurant in Sydney's south-west.

That cluster now stands at 26, while the cluster from the Crossroads Hotel has grown to 50.

One of the new cases is a traveller in hotel quarantine.

All of the 12 locally acquired cases have been traced to known sources.

There are two new cases who were contacts of cases linked to the Crossroads Hotel cluster, where many people tested positive after attending the venue on July 3.

NSW Health is urging residents to avoid non-essential travel and continue to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people at home.

It says people need to "exercise particular caution" in social gatherings and be aware that COVID-19 transmission has occurred in venues like hotels, restaurants and gyms.

Anyone who attended Our Lady of Lebanon Cathedral in Harris Park between July 15 and July 17 must come forward for testing and self-isolate, after two parishioners tested positive to the virus, NSW Health said yesterday.

The cathedral has been deep cleaned and many people have lined up for a pop-up testing clinic in the church car park.

It will operate for the next four days.

Biosecurity expert Professor Raina MacIntyre said she was still noticing a worrying level of complacency in NSW despite the recent increase in cases.

"I have noticed it myself that nobody's keeping a physical distance, nobody's wearing a mask, and unless we do things, we may lose the freedoms that we have at the moment in Sydney," she said.

"I think people should think about it as a social contract, that if we want to retain those freedoms to do the things we want to do, then in return we need to also do the right thing, maintain that physical distance of 1.5m, download the COVIDSafe app and wear a mask."

There are also eight cases associated with the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club on the state's South Coast, including four members of the same family who dined there last week, one new staff member, two diners and a close contact of the family.

Canberrans who attended the club last week are now required to self-isolate.

There were 15,903 tests carried out in NSW in the 24 hours to 8.00pm last night, compared to 21,167 tests done in the previous 24 hours.

NSW Health says 90 people with COVID-19 are currently being treated, while two are in intensive care.

All testing clinics across South-Western Sydney are open and residents are also urged to visit their GP if they think they may be at risk.
