New South Wales health authorities continue to monitor a potential infection hotspot in Sydney’s east as 19 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded overnight.
Of those cases, only two were recorded in returning travellers in hotel quarantine, NSW Health’s Dr Jeremy McAnulty said.

Three are linked to the funeral gatherings cluster in the Bankstown area, 10 are linked to the cluster at Thai Rock Wetherill Park, two at Thai Rock Potts Point, one new case at The Apollo in Potts Point and one is linked to the Crossroads Hotel cluster.
While the cluster across the two Potts Point restaurants now totals seven, McAnulty said authorities were “particularly concerned about the area”.
“We are at a very critical point ... what we are concerned about is when we can’t link cases together.”
‘High alert’
Premier Gladys Berejiklian told reporters the state remained on “high alert”.
“We have 13 facilities that we are keeping a very close eye on at the moment,” she said.
Three people on Tuesday tested positive for COVID-19 in Potts Point, with two diners and one staffer linked to two restaurants in the area, Thai Rock and The Apollo.
All residents and visitors to Potts Point have been asked to seek COVID-19 testing if they experience any symptoms.
Two more pop-up COVID-19 testing clinics were set up in the area - one in Surry Hills on Tuesday and another will open from noon on Wednesday in Rushcutters Bay Park.
The state government also announced on Wednesday that new rules will be introduced across NSW requiring gyms and fitness centres to register their COVID Safety Plan, and have a dedicated hygiene marshall on duty at all times.
The new measures will take effect from 12.01am on August 1.
