The pressure on the NSW health system is starting to show with the state recording 1,533 infections.
There are currently 1,041 COVID patients in hospital, 173 are in ICU – with 137 not vaccinated – and 62 require ventilation.
The number of cases in hospital is expected to peak in October, with firefighters and paramedic graduates on standby to step in to provide additional support.
