Sydney and regional NSW COVID restrictions

The entire of NSW is under state-wide lockdown restrictions.

There are also what Berejiklian has labelled as the “harshest restrictions Australia has ever seen” for a number of Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Sydney that have been identified as “areas of concern” for being as particularly high risk for COVID-19 transmission.

Everyone in NSW must stay at home unless they have a reasonable excuse to leave. They also cannot have visitors in their home from outside their household, including family and friends.

There are varying rules and restrictions in relation to masks, essential reasons to leave home, gatherings and more.

Is the daily 11am press conference still happening?

There’s been some confusion as to whether or not the press briefings will continue.

On Friday, 10 September, Berejiklian said NSW COVID press conferences would no longer be held every day.

The premier flagged daily updates would, from Monday, 13 September, be replaced by a video from NSW Health.

“Sunday will be the last day we officially do a press conference in this way but from Monday at 11am, health will provide a daily health update and myself and Minister Hazzard or any other relevant minister will present to the community on a needs basis,” she said.

But on Monday, 13 September, Berejiklian held a press conference to communicate the new case numbers and concerns of the day.

What time is the Gladys Berejiklian press conference today?

NSW Health is expected to provide a COVID-19 update at 11am each day.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant, Deputy Premier John Barilaro and Health Minister Brad Hazzard are often in attendance.
