LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

* Victoria recorded six new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, dropping Melbourne's crucial 14-day case average to 9.9.

* Two further deaths took Victoria's virus toll to 809 and the national figure to 897.

* There are now 31 cases linked to the Butcher Club at Chadstone Shopping Centre, an increase of three since Tuesday.

* More than 170 people in regional Victoria are self-isolating as part of efforts to contain the outbreak.

AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS

* There were 10 new cases in Australia - six in Victoria, three in NSW and one in Western Australia. There were also two more deaths in Victoria.

* The national death toll is 897: Victoria 809, NSW 55, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 6, SA 4, ACT 3. (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states.)
