One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Studies have shown that the average age of women diagnosed with breast cancer in the UAE is ten years younger than other countries around the world, due in part to early detection and raising awareness about breast cancer. Open discussions and removing the stigma surrounding breast cancer is the first step toward encouraging screenings and possible prevention, and so UAE businesses are doing their part to raise awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here is how you can help:
1. Get a screening
According to Pink Caravan, if breast cancer is detected early on, the survival rate could be up to 98 per cent. This breast cancer initiative is holding free screenings on 16 and 17 October at La Mer from 4pm to 10pm.

6. Donate hair
Dabur Amla has partnered with the Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) initiative and Tips and Toes salon to support those affected by breast cancer by starting a hair donation drive. The ‘Strong hair, Stronger you’ initiative aims to support breast cancer patients by making high quality hair prosthetics. The initiative will take place till 15 December, and those that choose to donate their hair will get a free hair cut and 30 per cent off colour services.

7. Do your Laundry
Laundry service Washmen have quite an offer going to raise awareness and donate to charity all while getting your laundry done.
