COVID-19 death in remote NT community - Northern Beaches Review

A man in his 60s has died with COVID-19 in a remote community in central Australia, Northern Territory health officials say.

The man died on Friday in Kintore, more than 500km west of Alice Springs, bringing to five the number of COVID-19 deaths in the NT since the start of the pandemic.

The man had underlying health conditions, NT health said on Sunday.

The territory on Sunday reported 867 new infections. Of these, 655 were positive cases from rapid antigen tests.

The NT's number of active cases is 7372, with 158 patients in hospital, 28 of whom require oxygen. Three patients are in intensive care.

Following the submission of further RAT results, the number of infections in the previous reporting period was amended to 1057.
