Khemia Salon owner posts ‘proof’ to support her ban on Aussies vaccinated against coronavirus - NEWS.com.au

A Gold Coast hairdresser, who found herself in hot water yesterday after announcing vaccinated Aussies were no longer welcome in her salon, has today posted “proof” to support the ban.

Yazmina Adler is the owner of Khemia HI Vibe Frequency salon at Palm Beach and the person behind the ban.

Ms Adler did the media rounds this morning, explaining she was living her truth and protecting her “staff and clients”.

The business yesterday asked anyone who had a COVID vaccination to notify them before making a booking.

“The unknown health effects of the mRNA vaccine are not covered by our public liability insurance,” Ms Adler wrote on social media.

She said she had taken into consideration the “1000s of reported side effects this shot has shown so far”.

“We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience to you,” she said. “However, the safety of our staff and existing clients is our priority.”

The business said it will re-evaluate the policy in 2023 “when clinical trials of the experimental injection are completed”.

On her Instagram story this morning, Ms Adler said she was ignoring the criticism and encouraged her critics to stop the hate.

“At the end of the day this really just comes back to me just doing what I feel is right for my business and my community, that’s all this is,” she said.

“It doesn’t need to be anything more. It doesn’t need to be an anti-vax thing, or I’m trying to discriminate, it literally just comes back to me making a free will choice and implementing it at my business.

“For those of you having a hard time understanding that, that’s OK but I don’t need the hate, I don’t need all of the negativity and the backlash … if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it all.”

Ms Adler also supported her vaccine ban with apparent “proof”, sent in by her followers.

“Women we are requesting you share with us your direct experience with any abnormal menstrual cycle signs or symptoms since being in contact with someone who has had this shot,” Ms Adler said.

“We want your stories and truths.”

Most of the stories centred around women claiming their periods had been disrupted after coming into contact with someone who had been vaccinated against coronavirus.

One women claimed her period came four days early and was “crazy heavy”.

Not a reason to not get vaccine

There has been anecdotal evidence that some women have seen changes to their menstrual cycles after getting the vaccine. More studies may reveal it to be a minor side effect, like muscle pain or a fever.

“Anecdotal reports of some menstrual irregularities is not a reason to avoid getting the vaccine,” said Michelle Wise from the University of Auckland’s gynaecology department on website The Conversation.

“Getting infected with COVID-19 is much more likely to interfere with your health, including your menstrual health.”

Another woman – who had been on a flight for 11 hours and said she was “probably around a TON of people who had the shot” – claimed her menstrual cycle was also disrupted.

And finally a flight attendant, who “works with a lot of vaxxed people” said she had a nine day period after flying to Uluru for three days.

“Learnt on the trip that the captain has had Pfizer,” she added.

Medical studies on flight attendants, and women who take long-haul flights, have proven both the job and the flying can impact the regularity of periods due to the disruption of hormone levels and lack of sleep.

“Even subtle changes to your daily pattern – getting up super early one day and then sleeping late the next – can have a small effect on your melatonin levels,” Dr Anita Mitra, an NHS gynaecologist in the UK, told QZ in 2018.

“So it’s less the flight, and more that the flight has taken you to another destination and time zone.

“There is an evolutionary basis for why this kind of stress affects our cycles.

“If you’re in ‘fight or flight’ mode, your body doesn’t know whether it has the energy to waste on having a period.

“We don’t fully understand the brain-uterus connection, but we know that the brain is the first link in the hormonal chain that produces a menstrual cycle.”
