BENDIGO Health is urging central Victorians to book in for their COVID-19 vaccine as more people become eligible for the jab.
The state government confirmed from Monday, more Victorians under the age of 50 were allowed to be vaccinated after the state received more Pfizer doses from the federal government.
Bendigo Health chair Bob Cameron said it was great to see the increasing supply of both the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines.
He said the state had capacity to administer the vaccines, but supply had been the issue.
"The best vaccine is the one you can get now," Mr Cameron said. "If you're in a priority group, then you're at a greater risk and that's why you're eligible.
"You should be getting vaccinated as soon as you can. We very much encourage people to take advantage of that."
From Monday, those under 50 can receive the vaccine if they are in a priority group, such as:
- critical and high-risk workers such as emergency services workers, Australian Defence Force personnel and licensed meat and seafood processing workers
- adults with specified underlying health conditions, or severe mental health conditions
- disability services workers and carers of people with a disability
- paid and unpaid carers of people who are over 70
Public-facing transport workers - including public transport, taxi, and rideshare drivers - will have access from May 24.

General practices will also start administering AstraZeneca to all people aged 50 and over from Monday.
Mr Cameron said Bendigo Health would continue to facilitate the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out where possible.
"We continue to do as many as we can, when we can," he said. "That's going well so far and will continue to go well."
The Department of Health said central Victorians under 50 should contact the coronavirus hotline to book an appointment for the Pfizer vaccine.
Those over 50 years old could also book an appointment or attend a walk-in clinic for the AstraZeneca jab.
