A golf club has been temporarily closed and coronavirus warnings have been issued for shoppers at Bunnings and Aldi stores in Sydney.

It comes as New South Wales recorded eight new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

Three new cases have been linked to the Sydney CBD cluster.

A further two previously announced cases have also now been linked to the growing outbreak, bringing the total number linked to the cluster to 57.

Brighton Lakes Recreation and Golf Club in Moorebank confirmed a positive case visited the club last Friday August 28 between 6.15pm and 12.30am.

Anyone who was at the club for two hours or more during that period has been directed to self-isolate until midnight on September 11, two weeks after they were exposed.

Others who were there for less than two hours are being considered casual contacts and should monitor for symptoms and get tested if any develop.

The club was closed last night as a specialised COVID-19 team deep cleaned and disinfected the premises but is expected to reopen from 11.30am today.

The golf greens were unaffected by the closure and opened for golfing as normal this morning.

Positive coronavirus cases also visited an Aldi store in North Strathfield and Bunnings in Padstow.

Anyone who visited the Aldi on 20 George Street, North Strathfield, on Tuesday, September 1, from 10-10.30am is now considered a casual contact.

The same applies to shoppers at Bunnings at 88 Fairford Road, Padstow, who were at the store last Thursday, August 27 from noon until 2pm.
