Queensland's top medical body has publicly backed the state government's hard border closure amid pressure from interstate and the federal government to reopen.
AMA Queensland's Vice President Professor Chris Perry joined the Queensland deputy premier at this morning's press conference to express support of the measures.
He said the state will not back down on its funeral protocol, after a Canberra woman Sarah Caisip was barred from attending her father's funeral in Brisbane because of Queensland's border restrictions.
"Do we want more people attending funerals, or do we want more COVID-19 funerals?" he asked.
"We are doing a very good job in this state."
