NSW COVID hotspot venues: Full list of Sydney exposure sites on alert after new COVID case - 7NEWS.com.au

NSW health authorities have released a list of the exposure sites after the state recorded its first community case of COVID-19 in 55 days.

The male security worker, 47, had worked at Sofitel Wentworth and Mantra Haymarket.

He was working a night shift at the Mantra on Friday night while infectious.

He visited three other locations while he was COVID-positive.

“At the moment we think these venues are low-risk but what we’re doing is reviewing CCTV footage to refine the information, and we will be using that text to those patrons that have used the QR codes for these venues,” Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said.

The security guard ended NSW’s 55 day streak of no COVID cases.

NSW Health was notified late on Saturday night of the new case.

They announced the news to the wider public on Sunday morning.

The source of the new infection is under investigation and urgent genome sequencing is underway.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison told reporters the worker has received their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination.

NSW Health said close contacts of the work is urgently underway.

The hotel worker will be included in Monday’s numbers, bringing the total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 5,048.

There were three new cases recorded in overseas travellers on Sunday.

The news comes just two days after a Brisbane doctor contracted the coronavirus while working with COVID-positive patients.

Brisbane’s hospitals and aged care facilities were plunged into lockdown on Saturday.
